Hi everyone! We're Nanase and Asuka, co-founders of this humble project "Smile Japan 311."
We started this project on March 14, 2011 while figuring out to see what we could do in the wake of the horrifying earthquake that devastated the Tohoku and Kanto regions of Japan on March 11, 2011. Living in the United States at the time of this terrible calamity, we were so heartbroken to see our people suffering day after day across the ocean. Though from afar, we wanted to do something to help, albeit a small effort, to extend love and hope to the Japanese people. That feeling motivated us to create this website and to rally positive energy from all over to show the Japanese people we're thinking and praying for them, though we may differ in language, culture, religion, or race.
2011年3月11日の東北関東大震災を受けて3月14日、
「Smile Japan 311プロジェクト」をアメリカで立ち上げました。
太平洋の反対側から祖国の惨状をみて、
居ても立ってもいられなくなったからです。
こちらでは多くの人が、祖国を離れている私たちに対して、
たくさんの温かい言葉をかけてくれています。
私たちはこの”日本に対する世界の愛”を、このウェブサイトで
伝えたいと思います。
そして、国や宗教、人種を越えた、たくさんの笑顔の写真が
希望の光となって日本の人たちの心に届くことを願います。
